Kalpana Chawla is a name of a modest little girl from Karnal, Haryana, who always wanted to reach the stars. The Irony is that she reached the stars but sailed beyond them, never to return to us again. A cherubic, loving and confident person that Kalpana was always aspired to pursue her dreams and gradually completed her aeronautical engineering and thereafter sailed to space to complete her dream. She has left a great legacy which keeps inspiring and empowering women in India and abroad.

A Symbol of Indomitable Courage – She showed indomitable courage in standing against the forces which wanted her to discontinue with her studies in the engineering line and go abroad for further studies. She was from a small town, where girls are not allowed to go for higher studies and achieved success. She thus set an example for the women of India to stand up for their dreams and pursue their careers.

Made India Proud – She was always a very sincere student. This passion for studies helped her to fly and achieve her goal. She always tried to be the best in whatever she did. She was therefore selected for the space mission with the space shuttle Columbia. She highlighted India’s name on the world chart, thus carving the way for other women to do so.

Women empowerment And Gender Equality –
By achieving success in the world in such a short span of time, she motivated the women to stand strongly in this world for their dreams and success. She also showed the world that Girls can be equally good as the boys. Gender bias is not any demerit for the women.

Thus Kalpana Chawla left a legacy for the people on earth to get inspired, have courage, struggle and achieve success in whichever way they want.
