Life is like a puppet in hand of God and each puppet has an import role to play in the stage of life. Some roles touches lives of millions, while most of the remaining roles are like private screening with limited audience. Every action in once lifetime – directly or indirectly – touches the life of others. Roles could vary from that of a public figure like politician or entertainer, impacting life of millions, to that of a housewife, binding the lives of her family members. None the less each role is important and leaves behind memories.
Everyone leave’s foot mark on other peoples’ life in a different way, creating different memories of same event. It is only you who can celebrate the memories of an event in your unique way. Only VVS Laxman can celebrate the memories of record breaking partnership with Rahul Dravid in Eden Garden against Aussies, others memory were as a mere spectators. Only you can celebrate the memories of proud feeling, giving your first paycheck to your father. Only your daughter can celebrate the memories of being grateful for the time you bought her first prom dress from the amount you saved for the new car.
These memories are real. Memories of events are thoughts occurring in the present. Happiness or pain about the past is happening now. Your present moment experience in the present is what keeps the past alive.
“Sharing tales of those we’ve lost is how we keep from really losing them.”
― Mitch Albom, For One More Day
Negativity surrounding death is primarily due the human desire for immortality. Death has commonly been considered as a sad or unpleasant occasion, due to having a bond or affection to the person who has died, or having fear of death.
Death is inevitable and we cannot help but lose our loved ones, when their time comes. Avoiding their memories is like hiding a wound, which would get worse with time, and you might even lose the organ (fond memories along with the bad ones) for good.
Only thing that makes us immortal is our memories. Celebrating memories is the only way we can honor our loved ones and keep them alive.
You have the choice, either to celebrate the good memories you had with the person during their life time, or to hide under the cushion of betrayal you felt because that person left you and embraced death.
